Naming the tractor and an unwelcome visitor!

Week 10 & 11:

Does your mind ever get full of too much information and you just want to share it all with someone else, just so they can fill your pain, too? That's what the next two weeks were like!

It's all about the fuel injection pump. Another week of fixing Ruby - did I mention she has a name now?! That's right, Ruby it is! Thank you to all who helped name her!

Of course something needed to be fixed and this week it wasn't a simple fix. It was a take it off, take it apart, clean it, replace parts and put it back together fix. I will say there is something so satisfying about cleaning something so dirty though. Take a look at these before and after pictures! Also, there is a video on IGTV of this project, if you want to take a look.

Here are a few tips I recommend for such a project:

  1. Two people are always better than one, when you can get a friend's help.

  2. Disposable roasting pans, use one for spraying and brushing the junk off, use one to place in after using the part cleaner and brushing the excess off, use one to place parts in when using the diesel to rinse it off.

  3. That leads to tip 3 clean with diesel fuel (I know sounds wierd but works great) Also, using Chem-Dip is super helpful.

  4. When taking anything apart, put the like parts/screws/nuts/bolts together in a zip lock bag so you don't get them mixed up.

  5. Take a picture, just in case you forget where parts go.

  6. Get oil-drip or even cat litter will work, you will want this to help soak up any spills or leaks.

  7. Don't get dirt on the parts that go inside the pump. They have covers to help with this or try placing bits of paper towels in the holes or over the holes.

  8. You again will need 8 million different types and sizes of the same tool.

This project took about 2 weeks, but also not two full weeks. We still go back in forth to OKC. So, a total of about 5 days. Lots of other side projects were done in this time as well. Such as, hanging 5 towel racks. Because you know everyone needs their own, smh. Unpacking boxes and re-arranging furniture. Trying to get rid of all the lovely spiders and tiny insects.

Oh! There was an unwelcome visitor!!!

So, I hear some birds outside in distress. Of course I go to see why. And bam! A snake! Just staring at me like he belongs there, no sir! First, stop eating their eggs, just rude! And second, get down from there! Also, how did you get up there???. These birds were so upset, poor things. And what's worse is apparently egg stealer has been doing this for years. He gets up there, takes them, then falls down and away he goes. Well not anymore! I'm going to put up stuff to keep them from building the nest and create another place that's safer for them. Me and the birds have to stick together, egg stealer needs to move along, nobody has time for him! P.S. I hate snakes!!!!!!! That night I couldn't sleep, I kept picturing him in my room, sitting there staring at me when I woke up!

On a more pleasant note, Bob had a sunset photoshoot! Bob is our Boston Terrier, my best kept secret! He is loving the country life - just lays and rolls in the grass, not a care in the world. You can find more pictures of him in the highlight section on IG.

Y'all things are getting so close to the "farm" stuff to start happening! On the list for the next 6-8 months or so is: garden, greenhouse, chickens, goats, sheep and a sheep dog! This of course might change but is the best plan at the moment and I CAN NOT wait!!! So many exciting things to come and I'm so happy to share this journey with you guys! Until next time, have a blessed week.
