Week 3:
Just me and the tiny human went this week, the other girls stayed back in OKC. Let me tell you, that four hour car ride was so peaceful without all the “She is touching me!” ramblings from the backseat. I think Jayde really enjoyed it just being her there. She took walks with Granddaddy, we played catch, she played her "stick ball", and she built an ambulance out of the trash from the hot water heater.
Man, there was so much to fix, and there still is honestly. The friendly creatures of the country had made nice little homes in the use to be vacant house and garage. First things first, to start filling and patching holes they had created. Lots of fun with insulation, wire and wood were to be had. We excitingly were finally able to install the new hot water heater, no more boiling water on the stove (steps closer to "normalcy"). We also re-installed all the AC window units and sealed the windows.
And Jayde's favorite part, we hung the tree swing!
She even helped to clear the over grown stuff, so she could swing.
I really enjoyed the one on one time I was able to have with her this week. She wanted to learn and help with whatever we were doing. And there was a lot to learn.
The things I learned this week: 1- How to convert a gas water heater to propane. 2- That there are way too many different sizes of screws and bolts on a tractor and way too many different sizes of wrenches you need to fit them. 3- That the walk to the mailbox is much longer than it should be. 4- Not having cell service is for the birds, while it can be peaceful, it's nice to be able to use the phone when you need to. 5- It's hard moving to a small town when everything is closed from Covid-19. You can't actually get a feel for what it will be like or meet anyone. 6- You need storage containers for ALL of your dry food! Humidity sucks, even with 3 dehumidifiers going in the house. 7- The one taco truck I found has good corn in a cup but not tacos. Sad day :(
I'm so thankful for this new adventure and HOT WATER. I'm also thankful for those who have been reading about my adventures and hope you will continue. There are more pictures on IG if you want to check them out. Big things happening next week, WIFI is coming!
WOW! So excited for your new adventure! Love to all the Js :)))
